Apprentice Mistake A Short Fantasy Story eBook Owen Tyler
This is an interesting fantasy short story with a likeable main character who is an apprentice wizard and a very cool dragon. I hope the author plans to write more about this character and situation, because I want to know the history of the dragon (and if there will be more about her) and if the apprentice wizard completes his training.Product details

Apprentice Mistake A Short Fantasy Story eBook Owen Tyler Reviews
I am always looking for new authors while I await releases from a handful of "established" writers that I follow. I enjoyed Apprentice Mistake and can honestly say that I wanted more. I wanted to know more about the the young apprentice. Where did he come from, what events in his young life explain the reasoning for his actions/reactions. I also need to know more about the dragon. Owen Tyler has hooked me and I look forward to reading his other short story as well as the novel. I can compare his books to one of my newest and favorite authors Jonathan Moeller. Its a quick read (too quick in my opinion. Therefore the 4 star rating). Thanks
Short story about an apprentice magician- Read and enjoy in 10 minutes. It is worth your time.
Teslanar, magician in training, follows a gardener through a secret gate into a large underground room.
Something is off but you just cannot place it. Great stone statues amaze Teslanar but he has magic to light the way.
A curious search turns to a short terror-driven attempt to escape. I did not learn what the mistake was
Teslanar is a sorcerers apprentice who on his free afternoon discovers a hidden cavern where, as his curiosity leads him to enter, he accidentally awakens a dragon. Now he has to put it back into its stone form, as he found it... Having little magic left, will he manage to do so?
It's an entertaining short story, although too short for my taste, I'd really like to know how it goes on. The end invites the reader's imagination about how the story might go on and what secrets might be revealed about the situation Teslanar just experienced and what happened to his own magic. The environment and events are lively described and the writing style is easy to follow.
Recommended Audience 10 to 15-year-old fans of Harry Potter
Teslanar, a curious young apprentice wizard, discovers a huge secret behind a hidden door. Although a young audience is likely to enjoy this engaging little story, the adult reader will probably find the writing a tad too simplistic, with a style that makes you feel like you are reading a detailed description of the story rather than the story itself. The story is also marred by several inconsistencies (e.g., being trapped in a hiding place by falling stalactites and then suddenly free with no explanation) and plot holes (e.g., an unexplained explosion and the head sorceress overlooking rips in the lead character's robes). Still, the story shows potential, could be significantly improved with just a little editing and rewriting, and has an ending that brings a smile.
I received Apprentice Mistake A Short Story in exchange for an honest review.
Science fiction is one of my favorite genres. A lot of creativity has to go into books under that category, one of the reasons I love it. I wasn't bored while I read this, Tyler's writing style entertained me from start to finish. The main character Teslanar unknowingly endangers himself. He's a student who is studying to become a wizard. Curiosity during a study break is what lands him into a situation he never dreamed of. Tyler's descriptive words made me feel like I was there with Teslanar.
Just like most works of art, this book could use some light proofreading. Readers who are looking for fiction sans curse words and sexual content, this is a great option. I hope this review was helpful. Happy reading.
Synopsis
Teslanar, a recently graduated college student at a magical college, has received a apprenticeship helping the head of sorcerers at the college he graduated from. While he was looking out of the window admiring the flowers, he goes outside to see that the gardener has gone missing. An explosion from no other than a powerful dragon. Teslanar must take care of this dragon, but he doesn't have to knowledge to do so. What could possibly go wrong?
Review
Let me just say that I don't read many short stories whether that be stand alone or a collection of short stories. This story has made me want to read more short stories.
I was constantly at the edge of my seat. Would Teslanar be able to take on the dragon himself?
The ending was great too. I definitely wasn't expecting that. Oh my gosh.
I love how descriptive and gripping this story was. Tyler did a great job of describing Teslanar's high fantasy world as if we were experiencing it ourselves. I wish I could write that to be completely honest.
There wasn't a lot of dialogue which I was a little disappointed. I didn't think that Teslanar would fight the dragon with little dialogue. Shouldn't he try to lure the dragon away with something? I'm not sure, but I felt like it was sort of missing dialogue.
I was very happy with how well plotted out the story was and how well structured it was. Tyler got his message across.
Overall I thought the story was great and fans of sci-fi and magical elements will definitely enjoy this short story.
Even though this was shorter than the first story, it is even better than the first one. It contains lots of action and ends on such a humorous note that one can't help but like it. The first story should be read first, however, to appreciate the second.
This is an interesting fantasy short story with a likeable main character who is an apprentice wizard and a very cool dragon. I hope the author plans to write more about this character and situation, because I want to know the history of the dragon (and if there will be more about her) and if the apprentice wizard completes his training.
